Gordon Tech Entrance Exam Followed By Pizza-Palooza 1.28

All 8th grade students interested in attending Gordon Tech High School next year are required to take our Entrance Exam on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 8:00 am. Enter through the Main Office doors. The exam will conclude at approximately 12:30 pm.

• Students that take the entrance exam at Gordon Tech will be given first consideration for financial aid awards.

• Please contact Ms. Daria Salmeron, Admissions Associate, at 773-423-5009 or dsalmeron@gordontech.org with any questions.

• All students will receive the 2012 Freshmen Application Packet and Financial Aid Application at the conclusion of the Exam.

All students must bring the following to the Exam:
• 2 #2 Pencils o $25 test fee – cash or check made payable to Gordon Tech High School

Due to the weather, ALL Athletic Games for Jan 12th have been cancelled. This includes the Girls Basketball (Varsity and Freshman) and Boys Wrestling games. All Practices will go on as scheduled.

Gordon Tech Rams Boys and Girls Basketball Have a Bye Week to Prepare for Remainder of the Season

The Varsity Boys will be in action again hosting U.I.C. College Prep on Tuesday, January 10. The Junior Varsity game will begin at 5:30pm and the Varsity will follow at 7:30pm. The Rams will then host the De La Salle Meteors on Friday, January 13. The JV game will begin at 5:30, Varsity to follow at 7:30.

The Lady Rams will travel to Mount Assisi on Monday, January 9. The Junior Varsity game starts at 5:30pm and the Varsity game will begin at 7:00pm. On Thursday, January 12 they will travel to Maria for a GCAC conference matchup that begins at 5:30pm. Then on Saturday, January 14 the Lady Rams will host Ida Crown. The JV game will begin at 7:00pm with the Varsity to follow at 8:30pm.

Gordon Tech Rams Wrestling Takes 5th at the 46th Annual Morton Invitational

The Wrestling Rams traveled down state to Morton, IL for the 46th annual Morton Invitational. The Rams finished 5th out of 12 teams in the tournament. This is the highest finish for the Rams in their 5 visits to the Morton Invitational. Leading the way for the Rams was 285lb Champion Justin Alonzo (St. Sylvester). That brings Alonzo’s (ranked #11 1A) record to 22-1. That was the first champion for the Rams at this tournament. Also placing were Marc Rodriquez (Thrope) 2nd at 113, Luis Zuniga (Reinberger) 2nd at 145, Jeffry Yacab (Jahn) 3rd at 126, Chris Sandoval (Portage Park) 4th at 106, Mark Mic (Gray) 4th at 220, Giovanni Sosa (Geothe) 6th at 120, and Andy Glebiv (St. Nicholas) 6th at 138. Coach Grant Hoerr had this to say about his team’s performance, “I am proud of how our kids did today. They competed strong and placed higher than any team previously. This is a breakthrough year for the program.”

The Rams will host Elmwood Park and Walther Lutheran on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:00pm for their Alumni Night. There will be an Alumni Reception at Pitchfork Food and Saloon (2922 W. Irving Park Rd.) following the meet from 9pm-10pm. All wrestling alumni are invited to join us for appetizers and reminiscing. The Rams will also travel to St. Ignatius with Northside College Prep on Thursday, January 12 at 5:00pm.

Boys Varsity Basketball Team 3-1 in the Luther North Holiday Classic

The Gordon Tech Boys Varsity Basketball Team enjoyed a very successful
Christmas break going 3-1 in the Luther North Holiday Classic.

Gordon defeated Jones Prep 57-56 in dramatic fashion as junior Jerry
Davis (Smythe) hit a game-winning shot with 1 second left on the clock
after receiving a great pass from senior Mahlike Graham (St.
Benedict). Senior David Andrews (St. Philip Lutheran) was on fire,
scorching the nets for 7 3-point shots once again to lead the Rams
with 21 points. Junior Devanchey Bell (Holy Family Lutheran) chipped
in with 13 points, while Davis had 11 points.

Gordon defeated Mather 53-22, holding Mather to only 1 field goal made
in the entire first half as the Rams lead 41-8 at the half. Jerry
Davis (Smythe) lead the Rams with 13 points, Devanchey Bell (Holy
Family Lutheran) had 10 points and Mahlike Graham (St. Benedict) had
11 points.

Gordon defeated Chicago Academy by the score of 56-44 in the 3rd game
of the Luther North Holiday Classic. David Andrews (St. Philip
Lutheran) lead the Rams with 17 points as he hit 5 3-pointers on the
night. Devanchey Bell (Holy Family Lutheran) added 13 points, Jerry
Davis (Smythe) added 10 points, and junior Sam Rarick (Pilgrim
Lutheran) added 9 points.

Gordon advanced to the Championship game of the tournament, but lost
to Taft by the score of 74-65. Sam Rarick (Pilgrim Lutheran) lead the
Rams with 17 points, Devanchey Bell (Holy Family Lutheran) had 12
points, Mahlike Graham (St. Benedict) had 11 points, and Jerry Davis
(Smythe) added 11 points.

Juniors Jerry Davis and Devanchey Bell were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Gordon Tech Rams Girls Basketball Makes School History with a Win over Josephinum

Gordon Tech easily defeated Josephinum in a conference cross-over game. GT got off to a 37-11 halftime lead before cruising to secure the victory. Leading the way for the Lady Rams were Samantha Martinez (Our Lady of Grace) with 20 points and Melanie Claudio (St. Ladislaus) with 15 points and 8 rebounds. The Rams now stand at 7-1 which marks their best start in school history.

The Lady Rams will compete next in the Mather Christmas Tourney. Their first two scheduled games are against Mather on Thursday, December 22 at 6:30pm and against CICS Northtown on Friday, December 23 at 5:30pm.
